Welcome to Museum of Yayoi Culture
In the prehistoric Japanese archipelago, the Yayoi period is thought to have begun around the 10th to 8th centuries BC and lasted until around the 3rd century AD. While the earlier inhabitants of the islands were hunter-gatherers, the Yayoi people introduced rice paddy farming and the use of bronze and iron tools. The Museum of Yayoi Culture is the only museum in Japan dedicated to this period.
